The Kiplinger Report for May 2010 is coming out with great information. “Prices are near bottom, rates are cheap and there are plenty of houses to choose from” states Pat Mertz Esswein.

Of course we have been preaching this for a while. For some of our buyers, the opportunity is already gone. They are or will very soon be priced out of the market with multiple offers, rising median prices and inventory low in several of our coastal OC areas. Especially the under $1.5M market is becoming a seller’s market again.

Bandera- Tasty rotisserie chicken and lamb, but be prepared for a long wait. Every day this favorite of ours is jam packed. It is worth the wait though….Relax at the large bar and watch some sports or hang out with your fiends by the outdoor waiting area. Reasonably priced, there is a little bit of everything on the menu. The grilled artichokes are great and you can bring your own wine with no corkage fee! Gulfstream- Fresh Oysters and Seafood is the specialty here. A sister restaurant of Gulfstream’s, this pleasantly noisy and happening place serves great appetizers and entrees. The large patio area with fire pits serves as a nice conversation spot and the service is fast and friendly. “HOME SALES PICK UP SPEED”

Southland’s pace in December is the best since 2006, and the median price rises 4%.

Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Newport Beach were among the affluent areas notching healthy sales gains.

Spring season is going to start early. There are a lot of cash deals, so there is a lot of money out there, and there is amazing opportunity and great deals to be had.

The percentage of Southern Cal homes that sold for more than $500,000 rose to 20.2 percent of all sales in December up from 16.5 percent a year earlier and down from its peak of 52 percent at the height prior to 2007.

2009 American Airlines Celebrity Golf and Tennis Tournament

In keeping with the Brown And Stowell team’s ongoing commitment to important causes, Michelle Brown participated in the 2009 American Airlines Celebrity Golf and Tennis Tournament to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure during a 3-day event. Throughout its 15 years as a prominent Southern California-based event, participants have raised millions of dollars for this well known cause which includes prevention, early detection and a cure for Breast Cancer.

Well known attendees included Brooks Robinson, Hall of Famer with the Baltimore Orioles; Coach Robert “Bobby” Knight, whose name is synonymous with winning; Bill Russell, NBA Legend; Rod “Mr. New York Hockey” Gilbert and Hall of Famer; Basketball Hall of Famer John Havlicek; Rod Laver, the only tennis player ever to win the Grand Slam twice; K.C. Jones of the Boston Celtics; Two-time Super Bowl champion, Matt Bahr; John Sununu, former White House Chief of Staff during the Bush Administration – and many actors and TV personalities including Lenny Clarke, Julie Moran, John York and Wendy Malick to name a few. LPGA legends Sally Little and Jane Blalock donate their time each year, and were on hand again this year to help each foursome get a little closer to the pin of the contest par 3.

After 18 holes of golf each day, the fun continued well into the evening with events such as a performance by the lead singers of Survivor, Toto and Santana, a live auction, and dancing in the hospitality suite.
